Dear Editor/Publisher,
Fifteen-year-old Melissa is caught up in a whirlwind as her nightmares become reality.  She discovers someone is hiding counterfeit money in coffins in the field across the street from her house; and to top it off her mom has a connection.

DREAMS, GHOSTS, AND COFFINS is a Young Adult suspense novel with a twist of true history. The word count is 58,900.

I am a member of the SCBWI and have written a range from poetry, short stories to young adult and mysteries.

Thank you for your time and look forward to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,

  1. Couple of little notes - put hyphens in fifteen-year-old, and also put the title of your book in all caps: DREAMS, GHOSTS, AND COFFINS.

  2. @ Jeanette - It was a good query letter; most of all it was short and concise. You might want to add a short bio. Check out the reference book, "The Writer's Market." It lists thousands of magazines that accept open submissions as well as a list of publishers for full-length books. Moreover, it includes a query letter clinic.

All in all, it is a must-have for all writers attempting to sell their work.

    Thank you,

  3. I just got a book in the mail today about query letters and it looks worth the cost. I know I need to add what book mine would blend well with in a separate paragraph that deals directly to the agent/publisher I'm sending it too.

For me? I still think it's harder than writing a book. lol Thank you Daron.
